- Abstract:This Part 2-6 of European Standard EN 16510 applies to space heaters, built-in appliances and cookers fired by wood pellets and fed mechanically, up to a rated heat input of 50 kW. These appliances typically consume auxiliary energy, which is also measured in this standard. For built-in pellet appliances and especially their testing, additional information from EN 16510-2-2 is required. For pellet cookers and especially their testing, additional information from EN 16510-2-3 is required. Non-mechanically fed appliances burning solid mineral fuels, peat briquettes and natural or man-made logs are not included in this European Standard but are covered by EN 16510-2-1 to EN 16510-2-5. The appliances covered in this Part 2-6 provide heat to the room in which they are installed. They can be operated either with natural draught or with fan-assisted combustion air. If equipped with a boiler, they can also provide domestic hot water and/or central heating. These appliances only burn wood pellets according to the appliance manufacturer's instructions. They only operate with the firebox door closed. This European Standard is not applicable to appliances - with boilers intended for water systems with water temperatures above 110 °C and 3 bar; - with boilers intended for water systems in direct contact with sanitary hot water; - with a purely horizontal flue (through the wall of the building) - with flue gas condensation in the unit; - switching on and off at partial load operation. This Part 2-6 of EN 16510 shall be used in conjunction with EN 16510-1 and includes the requirements and test methods for space heaters, built-in appliances and cookers fired by wood pellets.
