  • Abstract:
    This document is to be used for the planning and execution of ventilation and air-conditioning systems (hereinafter referred to as HVACs) in industrial, university and institute laboratories. It is also to be used for air handling systems in science rooms in schools, if these are equipped with an air handling system. This document is not to be used to determine whether laboratories or science rooms in schools shall be equipped with an air conditioning system. In this case, higher-level regulations shall be observed. This document is to be applied for the determination of tasks and requirements for air handling units. The application of this standard is not dependent on the term laboratory in the narrower sense, but it also applies to laboratory-like rooms in which activities involving hazardous substances or substances and agents hazardous to health are carried out. Basic information and requirements are contained in DIN CEN/TS17441.
