  • Abstract:
This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 119-05-36 AA "Wastewater treatment plants" of the DIN Water Practice Standards Committee (NAW). This standard specifies design principles for equipment for the separation and treatment of sand and other mineral solids for: - such structures or parts of buildings, in which the arrangement or function of the technical equipment must be taken into account and for -technical equipment, as far as special clarification or sewage treatment specific requirements in planning, construction and operation must be observed. This standard does not state general principles of building construction, mechanical and electrical engineering, safety or wastewater treatment processes. This standard refers to the general construction principles of DIN EN 12255-1 as well as to the specific technical standards for individual equipment in wastewater treatment plants, especially DIN EN 12255-3 (preliminary treatment), DIN EN 12255-4 (primary settlement) and DIN 19551-3 (Rectangular tanks - sludge remover and sludge scraper). The general and specific construction principles in this standard also apply to equipment for which there are no specific technical standards. Compared with DIN 19569-2:2002-12, the following changes have been made: a) The revised version of DIN 19569-2:2017-09 no longer contains specifications for the separation and treatment of sand. The present E DIN 19569-13 was separated from DIN 19569-2. b) The repetition of definitions of other standards has been avoided. c) The information to be provided in the call for tenders has been clarified and complemented. d) Requirements for the design of sand traps have been changed. e) Test methods for the effectiveness of sand traps (also in connection with sand treatment facilities) are described. f) The description of sand treatment equipment has been adapted and extended to the state of the art.
